About me
I am a qualified executive coach, a trained mediator and facilitator with more than 30 years’ experience.
A lifetime ago, I completed a degree in Industrial Technology and briefly considered a career in Engineering. However, it soon became apparent that I was more interested in people rather than things! As a result, I have spent the last 30 odd years trying to figure out how people in the corporate world can work together in a way that is fulfilling, meaningful and has purpose – free from stress, anxiety and burnout. I am convinced that the world of work can be less depressing, more fun; less divisive, more diverse; less exclusive, more accepting. A 2012 Gallup Survey report concluded that only 13% of the workforce was ‘engaged’, meaning that 87% don’t like what they do! There is much work to be done.
To this end I studied an MBA, qualified as both a mediator and an organisational coach and practised group facilitation and team coaching.
I’m told I’m an energising and flexible facilitator, a caring yet challenging coach and fun to work with. I have a particular interest in promoting women in leadership (it’s my belief that the world would be a better place with more women in senior leadership roles) and have specialised in organisational coaching. I also teach a coach qualification programme for the Australian Institute of Organisational Coaching and Leadership. (IECLGrowthops)
While I work mainly in the New Zealand public sector, I also have clients in the banking, construction and insurance industries. My pro bono work with NGOs has taken me to Australia and Nepal. In the past I have lived and worked in Japan and France and had short-term assignments in London, Paris, Tokyo, Vienna, Tonga, The Cook Islands and Samoa.
Outside my paid work I have volunteered at Zealandia (I am crazy about birds – the clue is in the name!); worked with recently arrived refugees and, as a cancer survivor, am a volunteer with the Cancer Society. We also have 3 grown kids, an elderly dog and 2 rescue cats with emotional issues.
I am a Professional Credentialed Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and have over 600 hours coaching experience. I’m a Senior Executive Coach and qualified Professional Coach Supervisor for the IECL and am accredited to use MBTI, the full suite of TMS instruments and GENOS EI.
